I inform every student that comes into my studio, that learning how to breathe in accordance to a European classical method of singing will only make your singing better, not worse. This approach to managing breath provides the fuel needed to sing ANY style of music with success.
Two things characterize my approach to teaching as follows:
1. An emphasis on technique, especially on the effectiveness of breath management. Thanks to my diverse performance experience, during lessons I am able to sing opera, rock, gospel, jazz, R&B, etc., to show my students that breath management is a generic function that serves all styles.
2. We want to pursue excellence, not perfection. Once perfection is reached, one has learned everything. In music as in life, we are ALWAYS learning and we strive for excellence while taking this vocal journey. Singing that can move an audience is an extraordinary thing. Yes, it can be done, as a solo performer, choral artist or shower singer, but you have to work and practice.
